This pages summarizes the different courses we provide for students.
Dickson English School offers English language courses for students aged from 6 to 16 years old. We divide these groups by age into five distinct groups:
1. Pre-Elementary School
Pre-Elementary School classes focus on Alphabet, Pronunciation, and early development of reading and stories. Students do arts and crafts projects, play games and interact with each other in English. English only is encouraged throughout the class. Classes are twice weekly, each lasting 90 minutes with a convenient break in the middle. Course texts vary depending on the age and experience of this class.
2. K1-2 (Aged 7-8)
For students who are in the early years of Elementary School, these courses provide basic grammar (Present Tense, There is/are, etc.), essential vocabularly items for home and school, and a strong foundation in the four skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening. Classes are twice weekly, each lasting 90 minutes with a convenient break in the middle. Course texts are New Parade 1 & 2.
3. K3-4 (Aged 9-10)
For students who have already completed the foundation units in K1-2, these courses consolidate and expand the language and skills with more complex structures, depth in vocabulary and students experience a great improvement in their skills. Classes are twice weekly, each lasting 120 minutes with a convenient break in the middle. Course texts are New Parade 3 & 4.
4. K5-6 (Aged 11-12)
These levels can be considered the advanced level books, in which students begin to experience, understand and use English in much greater depth. Vocabulary, language and skills develop generally exceed those skills in the Junior High School programs. Children also experience an increase in their confidence levels. Classes are twice weekly, each lasting 120 minutes with a convenient break in the middle. Course texts are New Parade 5 & 6.
Junior High School Programs
We provide courses for students who have completed the K-Series of programs in our school, though we do admit students who satisfy our requirements for these levels. Junior High School Programs encourage students to excel in their achievements and direct students to both formal exams (school and GEPT exams) and lifelong acquisition of English. Classes are once or twice weekly, each lasting 120~180 minutes with convenient breaks in the middle.
Our graduates from these programs go on to some of the best schools, colleges and Universities in Taiwan. Most of them who complete our General English Proficiency Test Preparation (GEPT) courses also achieve national recognition of their competence by competing in and passing GEPT. Our pass rates in GEPT speak for themselves with over 80% of our students passing GEPT and many achieving the highest rankings. This compares to a national average of just under 40%.

General Notes
Each class semester is 24 classes or twelve weeks, and each Parade Level Course Book lasts about 4 semesters. Other courses vary depending on the materials chosen. For full information, placement interviews, and scheduling, please contact us.
